WATCH RECORDING: The Scottish College of the Future Final Report Launch Event

WEBINAR

14 December 2020

11:00 - 12:00

THIS EVENT HAS NOW TAKEN PLACE.

What do we want and need from our colleges from 2030 onwards, and how do we get there? These were the simple yet important questions the Independent Commission on the College of the Future sought to answer when it began work last spring.

Join the Independent Commission on the College of the Future on Monday 14 December, 11am-12pm, to discuss its new report for Scotland.

Following the publication of the Commission’s UK-wide final report, it is now setting out recommendations for realising its vision for the college of the future in each of the four nations.

About this event

Chaired by Commissioner and former President of the British Chambers of Commerce, Nora Senior CBE, this event marks the launch of this ambitious, new report for Scotland.

We are delighted to be joined by the following speakers:

  • Audrey Cumberford FRSE MBE, Commissioner and Principal & CEO Edinburgh College
  • Professor Ewart Keep, Commissioner and Emeritus Professor at the Department of Education, Oxford University
  • Ken Thomson OBE, Principal, Forth Valley College

This free online event is open to all with an interest in the college of the future. It will take place on Zoom and you will receive the link on the day of the event. A recording of the event will be available after the event on the Commission's website.

You can submit questions for speakers or about the event by emailing The College Alliance.

About the upcoming report

There is a real opportunity and an urgent need to capitalise on the strengths of the Scottish colleges and create a truly integrated tertiary system as the nation drives economic recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.

As the upcoming report will highlight, the direction of travel in Scotland fully reflects the vision for the college of the future to empower people throughout their lives with the skills they need to get on in life, support better productivity and innovation of businesses, and strengthen every community’s sense of place.

Our aspiration is to contribute constructively to the next phase of the Scottish Funding Council’s review and to the wider debate on the future role of colleges in Scottish society and its economy as well as offering a roadmap for fully realising their potential.
