ECFA Football Activators
Congratulations on becoming a ECFA Football Activator!
Congratulations, you are now a part of a group of students working together to promote the benefits of physical activity using the tool of football.
As an ECFA Activator you will support the design and delivery of football opportunities in your college that help students play or volunteer within the game. You will also find great opportunities to develop yourself by working across areas that interest you like coaching, refereeing, media, event organisation, analysis, youth voice and more.
The Role
What is your role?
You and your college can shape the role to fit your community's needs. The role is about more than just delivering football provision; it can help more students play or volunteer within football at your college.
You could develop recreational football to make it more appealing to students who might not be into traditional football, or you could help to coach your college football team. Alternatively, you could promote all of the incredible work happening at your college through communications and media work and showcase the talent and dedication of your fellow students and staff involved in football.
You could also develop yourself as an aspiring referee to uphold the highest of standards of the game and ensure everyone is safe, or champion student voice and leadership to make sure that students are listened to and staff consider their opinions when making important decisions.
If you wanted to, you could support in planning and delivering fantastic football-specific events at your college and make them memorable and exciting for everyone involved.
If you have a particular area of the game that interests you or an idea that can help your college achieve its goals, raise it with your college staff members. Together, you can make a real difference.
If you have a particular area of the game that interests you or a brilliant idea that can help your college achieve its goals, don't be shy! Raise it with your staff member and share your passion. Together, you can make a real difference!

Please speak to your staff member, they will help you to do this.
Get your first meeting booked in!
Once you’ve completed the above, make sure you arrange your first meeting with your college staff member, other activators and ambassadors, and have a think about any changes you’d like to make. This will help you bring your ideas to life by deciding on a plan of action for how you want to make a difference throughout the year within your role.
Have a think about what you would like to stay the same or see change at your college ahead of your first meeting.
Below you’ll find examples of the sorts of activities activators have developed in the past.
Book on an Upcoming Development Day
Speak to your staff member to ask if you can attend your first development day in November These events will be great for your development and will give you all the tools you need to make an impact within the role. In preparation for the day, it’s worth thinking about these three questions: How will you make an impact? What will be your first activity? How will you let people know about it?
