Tchoukball

Tchoukball UK are wanting to work with colleges to enhance the delivery of this exciting and inclusive sport for your students as part of their studies and provide a new sport to your college.

Tchoukball is usually played on an indoor court measuring 27 by 16 metres. At each end there is a ‘frame’ (1 by 1 metre trampete) off which the ball bounces and a D-shaped zone measuring three metres in radius. Each team can score at both ends of the court, and comprises 7 players. In order to score a point, the ball must be thrown by an attacking player, hit the frame and bounce outside the ‘D’ without being caught by the defending team. Physical contact is prohibited and defenders may not attempt to intercept the attacking team’s passes, but tactically predict when and where the opposition will shoot.

Players may take three steps with the ball, hold the ball for a maximum of three seconds, and teams may not pass the ball more than three times before shooting at the frame. Matches are 3 x 15 minute thirds with unlimited substitutions.
Being able to shoot at both ends, alongside the limited time in which players have possession of the ball, it is often described as the fastest handball sport in the world, games often seeing both sides reaching 50 or 60 points in a 45 minute game.
