Liberal Democrats 'skills wallet' for every adult - AoC responds

27 April 2020

Responding to the Liberal Democrats plans for a “new era of learning throughout life” with the creation of a Skills Wallet giving every adult £10,000 to spend on education and training throughout their lives. Chief Executive, David Hughes said: “The vision presented by the Liberal Democrats today is ambitious and shows serious dedication to lifelong learning. Introducing a skills wallet has the potential to shift attitudes to lifelong learning and access to opportunities. Much like the introduction of auto-enrolment for pensions, it has the potential to change attitudes to learning across the whole population. It’s an exciting prospect to give adults true purchasing power to decide how to best spend that funding, whether it be upskilling, retraining or going back into full-time education later in life. This kind of choice and flexibility is a step in the right direction for adult learners, employers and the economy.”
