Level 4 and 5

Arti Saraswat, Senior Policy Manager, Higher Education, Association of Colleges, said: “We welcome this timely report from UCAS that sheds light on the choices and behaviours of applicants who apply to study Level 4 and 5 qualifications via UCAS. While UCAS’ data does not represent all learners who choose to study Level 4 and 5 courses, the report provides valuable insights into motivations of applicants and their decision making.

“Colleges are the lead providers of Level 4 and 5 qualifications and offer opportunities to those who would otherwise not have access to higher education. Despite the benefits associated with studying Level 4 and 5 courses, there has been a general decline in students studying these courses. Level 4 and 5 qualifications continue to suffer from low visibility and UCAS can play an important role in offering enhanced information, advice and guidance so applicants can make better informed choices to study higher education.”
