- Groundbreaking technology partnership to revolutionise vocational education
Groundbreaking technology partnership to revolutionise vocational education

Ufi VocTech Trust has agreed a landmark partnership with AoC to unlock the potential of learners across the country by supporting innovation in how digital tools and approaches are used in further education (FE) colleges.
Vocational technology (VocTech) is dramatically changing how skills are developed in FE colleges. From using virtual reality to teach social care, to AI supporting teachers with lesson planning or providing student support, VocTech offers unique opportunities for learning, engagement, and workforce preparation. However, the adoption of technology within FE colleges is uneven, creating gaps that could have long-term effects on learners, communities, and regional economies.
AoC and Ufi’s multi-year strategic partnership aims to build capacity and confidence in the use of VocTech across FE colleges, by embedding behaviours and strategies that can support innovation in how tech is used to enhance teaching, learning, and business support.
Catherine Sezen, Director of Education Policy at the Association of Colleges said: “This partnership marks a significant commitment to ensuring students and staff alike are supported to make the most of the vast range of technology and approaches able to improve vocational skills.
“We are proud to partner with Ufi to drive positive change in the FE sector and support students across the country to gain the skills they need to thrive."
Anthony Painter, Director of Strategic Engagement at Ufi said: “Our partnership with AoC is a positive step towards supporting all FE colleges to embrace vocational technology and ensure it serves their staff, learners and wider community.
“Whether a college is leading the charge or just starting to explore the possibilities, we hope that this partnership will help support all FE colleges on their road to increased confidence and adoption of vocational technology”.
The first output from the partnership is a survey designed to examine how AoC members are currently using technology. Insights from the survey will help to shape the direction of the partnership, ensuring its work responds to the needs of colleges and their students. Colleges are strongly encouraged to participate.
