Changes to end point assessment step in right direction, says AoC

Commenting on the government's announcement of changes to apprenticeship end point assessment (EPA), Association of Colleges Chief Executive David Hughes said: “These changes to the way apprentices are assessed is a step in the right direction. A recent AoC survey identified that 43% of colleges had experienced a delay of three months or more for apprentices to complete their EPA. EPAs currently cost colleges around 13% of their annual apprenticeship income – so streamlining the assessment process should help reduce the cost and lower the bureaucratic burden, allowing more focus to go on supporting the apprentice themselves. It also allows employers to make sure apprentices are assessed on those aspects of the role that matter to them most.”
