An online masterclass series on Managing Student Behaviour in the Classroom, designed specifically to support teaching staff in further education colleges. These 90-minute sessions delivered by our expert trainers will provide you with practical guidance and tools to help you enhance classroom management and effectively handle challenging behaviour.

Behaviour management: Strategies for success and engagement
Wednesday 22 January – 15:30 – 17:00

This session will equip teachers with a range of behaviour management strategies and approaches, tailored to the unique needs of FE learners. With a focus on creating a positive learning environment, understanding underlying causes of challenging behaviour, and fostering student engagement through proactive techniques, the session will cover a range of approaches to suit all teachers. Emphasising restorative practices, clear boundaries, and tailored interventions for diverse learner needs, teachers will leave with a practical toolkit to manage behaviour confidently, reduce disruptions, and support student success in FE settings.

Supporting students with anxiety

Facilitator: Laura Kerbey, Trainer and Author

In this session Laura will help delegates Identify triggers for learners in the college environment. Laura will also discuss the impact that anxiety can have on learners and identify effective support strategies to help minimise anxiety and build confidence in learners. We will also look at strategies to support students when experiencing meltdown and shutdown.

Conflict resolution in the classroom
Wednesday 26 February – 15:30 – 17:00

In this session, participants will explore the principles of conflict resolution within the context of the changes and developments which occur within the adolescent brain. In doing so, they will be able to strategise about the best ways to resolve conflict in post-16 classrooms. The session will include activities to help practitioners discuss, collaborate and begin applying some of the conflict resolution techniques discussed.

This session will explore:

  • The changes and developments which take place in the adolescent brain
  • The principles of conflict resolution techniques
  • Using conflict resolution techniques with post-16 learners.

Supporting students with ADHD
Tuesday 11 March – 15:30 – 17:00
Facilitator: Laura Kerbey, Trainer and Author

In this session, Laura will identify the most common characteristics of ADHD and how this can impact on learning. Laura will also discuss other less obvious and less well known symptoms of ADHD. The session will then cover practical strategies for supporting learners with ADHD in the learning environment.

Sessions are £55 + VAT per person, per session for member college delegates and £80 + VAT per person per session for non-members. Delegates can choose to attend as many or as few sessions as they wish.
