Further Education and Skills Connect (FES Connect) is a national community for Post 16 careers leaders and practitioners, supporting development and sharing of best practice to ensure every learner is supported to find their next best step.

This hot topics series will be run by the Careers and Enterprise Company in partnership with AoC. Seminars will include specialist guest speakers, breakout sessions to discuss hot topics and opportunities to share best practice.

Hot topic one - This event has passed

  • Action research findings and sharing best practice
    Tuesday 22 October 2024, 10am - 11am

      In 23/24, 3 colleges completed action research into different aspects of careers education. This webinar will present findings and provide opportunity for delegates to ask questions of the providers, focused on learning and how to translate best practice to different settings. Action research topic covered: employer engagement for SEND learners, supporting learners in digital recruitment and selection; and a multi-site standardised approach to delivering and embedding careers.

      • Parental engagement findings and sharing best practice
        Tuesday 28 January 2025, 10am - 11am

      Colleges share their approaches to parental engagement in careers education. Through action research, three colleges have tested different approaches to parental engagement. We hear about their journey, successes and challenges, drawing out best practice for future amplification.

      • Using data to inform careers impact
        Tuesday 18 March 2025, 10am - 11am

      Using a college case study, we examine how data is used to inform impactful careers practice that not only meets local skills’ needs but shapes provision to meet the needs of all learners.

      • Building an individualised approach for the careers education journey
        Tuesday 10 June 2025 - 10am -11am

      We examine what contributes to a truly individualised student careers learning journey and how this has worked in practice through a college case study.
