AoC Colleges Week 2025: building brighter futures

Colleges Week 2025 will take place between Monday 3 and Friday 7 March. The week will celebrate the impact colleges have both in their local communities and across the country.
Using the government's five missions as a framework, the week will focus on one mission each day, highlighting the fundamental role colleges have in building brighter futures for their students, for their staff, and for the government.
Webinar 1: Mission accepted: colleges’ role in kickstarting the economy
Monday 3 March, 10 - 11am
To celebrate Colleges Week 2025, and the central role colleges across the country must play in all five of the government’s missions, AoC will be hosting a series of webinars sharing expertise and best practice from colleges around the country.
Chaired by Emma Meredith, Director for Skills Policy and Global Engagement, who will share insight from the sector, this webinar will also see Trafford and Stockport Colleges Group and City College Norwich will share the work they’re doing to contribute to the first government mission, which is to kickstart economic growth to secure the highest sustained growth in the G7 – with good jobs and productivity growth in every part of the country making everyone, not just a few, better off.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the colleges presenting, and discuss new approaches and ideas on how they could expand on their own provision in this mission.
Webinar 2: Mission accepted: colleges’ role in becoming a green energy superpower
Tuesday 4 March, 4 - 5pm
To celebrate Colleges Week 2025, and the central role colleges across the country must play in all five of the government’s missions, AoC will be hosting a series of webinars sharing expertise and best practice from colleges around the country.
Chaired by Claire Barker, Senior Policy Manager- Skills & Industry, who will share insight from across the sector, this webinar will also see Myerscough College share the work they’re doing to contribute to the second government mission, which is to make Britain a clean energy superpower to cut bills, create jobs and deliver security with cheaper, zero-carbon electricity by 2030, accelerating to net zero.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the colleges presenting, and discuss new approaches and ideas on how they could expand on their own provision in this mission.
Webinar 3: Mission accepted: colleges’ role in taking back our streets
Wednesday 5 March, 4 - 5pm
To celebrate Colleges Week 2025, and the central role colleges across the country must play in all five of the government’s missions, AoC will be hosting a series of webinars sharing expertise and best practice from colleges around the country.
Chaired by Eddie Playfair, Senior Policy Manager, who will share insight from across the sector, this webinar will also see Wigan and Leigh College and Boston College share the work they’re doing to contribute to the third government mission, which is to take back our streets by halving serious violent crime and raising confidence in the police and criminal justice system to its highest levels.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the colleges presenting, and discuss new approaches and ideas on how they could expand on their own provision in this mission.
Webinar 4: Mission accepted: colleges’ role in breaking down barriers to opportunity
Thursday 6 March, 4 - 5pm
To celebrate Colleges Week 2025, and the central role colleges across the country must play in all five of the government’s missions, AoC will be hosting a series of webinars sharing expertise and best practice from colleges around the country.
Chaired by David Holloway, Senior Policy Manager – SEND, who will share insight from across the sector, this webinar will also see Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College (BHASVIC) and Pettypool College will share the work they’re doing to contribute to the fourth government mission, which is to break down barriers to opportunity by reforming our childcare and education systems, to make sure there is no class ceiling on the ambitions of young people in Britain.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the colleges presenting, and discuss new approaches and ideas on how they could expand on their own provision in this mission.
Webinar 5: Mission accepted: colleges’ role in building an NHS fit for the future
Friday 7 March, 10 - 11am
To celebrate Colleges Week 2025, and the central role colleges across the country must play in all five of the government’s missions, AoC will be hosting a series of webinars sharing expertise and best practice from colleges around the country.
Chaired by Marguerite Hogg, Senior Policy Manager who will share from across the sector, this webinar will also see the Heart of Worcestershire College share the work they’re doing to contribute to the fifth government mission, which is to build an NHS fit for the future that is there when people need it, with fewer lives lost to the biggest killers, in a fairer Britain, where everyone lives well for longer.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the colleges presenting and discuss new approaches and ideas on how they could expand on their own provision in this mission.
