Youth Social Action Apprentice Programme Impact Report 23/24

Due to the success of the Pears #iwill Youth Social Action Apprentice Programme, the Pears Foundation has funded a phase 2 of the programme. Phase 2 of the programme consists of three sub-programmes.

In June 2023, five AoC member colleges set out to recruit five Youth Social Action Apprentices which would deliver youth social action in their college as well as 1 - 2 other colleges within their region. Whilst they deliver youth social action, they complete their Level 3 Youth Support Worker apprenticeship online at Bolton College. The training consisted of online classroom led sessions every Friday, work within their colleges to deliver youth social action and put their training to the test. The Youth Social Action Apprentices received support throughout the year from the Youth Social Action Mentors who provide mentoring support to each apprentice through 1:1 online monthly meetings. The mentors also provide the apprentices with some training on key challenge areas they are navigating throughout their apprenticeship.

The apprentices have the opportunity to learn from others by visiting their mentor colleges or fellow peers as well as hearing from external organisations that are leading on youth led initiatives. The apprentices have supported students to design, plan and deliver, high quality, impactful social action projects, whilst developing their confidence and skills through out their journey.
