Promoting inclusivity and diversity through youth social action

Case study by Charlotte Smith, apprentice at Long Road Sixth Form College, Luton Sixth Form College and Cambridge Regional College

Charlotte Smith is a Youth Social Action Apprentice at Long Road Sixth Form College, Luton Sixth Form College and Cambridge Regional College. Charlotte delivers youth social action activities in all three colleges whilst completing her Level 3 Youth Support Worker Qualification, which is delivered by Bolton College. This case study is on a project from all three colleges in the partnership.

As a Sixth Form College, it is important that its students feel represented, included, and advocated for. Inclusivity and diversity can take many forms such as supporting different cultures, promoting various religions, and helping those with additional needs. Throughout this academic year, Charlotte, Youth Social Action Apprentice has recognised the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion. Students have a voice which should be recognised and represented in their time at college. This can be done through celebrations and events that celebrate them.
