Youth social action: Oscar's journey

Case study by Heart of Worstershire College

For the Youth Social Action programme at Heart of Worcestershire College, a group of 7 Youth Social Action Ambassadors ran a series of small and interactive activities for SEN student groups that aimed to boost mental wellbeing and teach new skills. The Ambassadors conducted research into the types of creative activities they could run by liaising with college staff. They wanted to deliver activities the students have not taken part in before. For the project, the Ambassadors came up with 5 separate types of sessions that were tailored to each SEN group that came to take part. The Youth Social Action Ambassadors identified a real need for tailoring each session to meet the needs of each SEN group at the college to ensure all could get involved. The themes of these activities were arts and crafts, team building, communication games and calming activities. All activities went down really well with each group.
