The Letter

The letter was lying on my desk in the office where I work at the department of MI5. It was a gloomy, cloudy Wednesday afternoon and no-one else was around.

There was a smell of freshly printed ink and smoke coming from the red, official. Waxed seal of security. The smoke was filling the room and was almost suffocating me.

I had been working for MI5 for 10 years and was due for promotion. I was just about to pack up and log off my computer when I saw the letter on my desk.

The letter was from a former spy regarding his observation on a pervious assignment.

It hit me like a tonne of bricks. I was now in a foreign county where I had previously working this spy. We were in a large, noisy city full of people and I could hear them protesting, shouting and firing off air guns. I was scared and my whole body was trembling.

Suddenly, there was a knock on my office door. It brought me back to current day. I felt relieved until I looked up and saw who was there. It was my old colleague and spy. He was out of breath, looking very angry and holding a weapon.
