Ron Matthews

After a previous career as a senior manager in local government Ron has been the Governance Professional at Myerscough College since 2010; a large land based college north of Preston in Lancashire that also has a number of smaller campuses across the north-west. A former National Leader of Governance for the AoC Ron has passion for good governance which has been at the core of his work throughout his career. He is an active member of the North-West Clerks network, a former Chair of the Wyre District Council Remuneration Committee and former Clerk and Company Secretary to the Cidari Multi Academy Trust, whose growth in recent years led to a permanent role being created in-house. Ron is also a Governor at his local primary school. He has been recruited by various business organisations as a judge for their awards processes. With a keen interest in sport generally, he is a Trustee of his local cricket club and still manages to turn out once a year for the annual college staff versus students cricket match. He remains a Blackpool Football Club season ticket holder!
