David J Wright

With Governance experience totalling 20 years, including 14 years within the FE/Sixth Form college sector, David is currently Chair of Corporation at an Outstanding Graded Sixth Form College in Leeds. David was appointed as an FE National Leader of Governance in 2021. He is therefore part of the FE Commissioners team which provides board level support and informs governance best practice.

An individual who has a passion for the value and contribution made by Governors in support of college wide improvement and good Governance.

David has undertaken several FE/Sixth Form College internal Board effectiveness reviews and independent External Board reviews of Governance arrangements.

During his career in both the private and public sector he has held several non-executive roles

With senior management experience and professionally qualified skills David is a self – motivated individual who always strives to achieve and maintain high professional standards and integrity in work and life. A management practitioner who offers the ability to motivate at all levels; proven strategic, operations and leadership abilities within team environments; extensive experience of developing business and understanding of the importance of effective people management.  

David will bring his career expertise and extensive governance experience in providing active support to any college in their journey towards excellence.
