Webinar: Implementing the Code of Good Governance for English Colleges - Dr Susan Pember, Governance Advisor, AoC
18 June 2019
On 31 March, following an extensive period of sector-wide consultation, AoC published the Code of Good Governance for English Colleges. This replaces the previous Foundation Code.
The Code of Good Governance for English Colleges is intended to help governing boards meet and exceed basic governance requirements. As autonomous bodies, individual colleges are free to adopt the Code as they see fit. AoC suggests that colleges may wish to consider:
Adopting the Code at their summer board meeting.Build into college governance procedures and processes.Assess and comment each year in annual report.Periodically undertake a governance effectiveness review.Benchmark by including someone independent of the college in the review process.
This webinar will look explore the context and rationale for the Code, examine its provisions and discuss effective implementation.
An on-demand copy of the webinar and the presentation slides are now available.
