Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education

In response to the three colleges who won awards, David Hughes, Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges, said: “The winning colleges are outstanding representatives of the excellent work happening across the country. They can be proud to receive this award for demonstrating their commitment to create the best possible experience for students.
“Further education colleges provide high-quality technical and professional education and training for young people, adults and employers. They prepare over three million students with valuable skills for the workplace, helping to develop their career opportunities and strengthen the local, regional and national economy.”
The Prizes are part of the honours system and are awarded every two years by The Queen on the Prime Minister’s advice. UK universities and colleges were invited in October 2016 to submit entries on any aspect of their work for assessment against the scheme’s criteria of excellence, innovation and practical benefit, to the institution itself and UK education, and to the UK economy and society and for public benefit in general.
