Governance Webinar - The Area Review Process

18 June 2019

Bobbie McClelland, Deputy Director, Standards and Qualifications Unit, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) presents this webinar and answers questions, with David Walker, Director of Governance for AoC. The Government’s Productivity Plan, “Fixing the Foundations”, which calls for more specialisation in skills provision, has significant implications for FE and its governance. To help deliver high quality professional and technical routes to employment and better responsiveness to local employer needs, whilst at the same time ensuring a resilient, efficient and financially sustainable college sector, the Government has set out an approach to reviewing the college sector. This was described in “Reviewing post-16 Education and Training Institutions” published on 20 July. This indicated that every area in England would be subject to an Area Review by March 2017. Further Guidance on the Area Review process is expected before the formal start of the academic year. This webinar provides an opportunity to discuss the implications of the Area Review process and the Government’s policy objectives with senior officials. View the webinar.
