This Girl Can encourages female students to get active
19 June 2019
This Girl Can, Sport England’s ground-breaking new campaign to get more women active, launches today.
The campaign celebrates active women everywhere and proves that sport can be a fun and enjoyable part of your life, whatever your size, ability or previous experience.
Colleges across the country have signed-up to the campaign, with many already running innovative projects to get female students moving more.
City of Liverpool College runs ‘Ladies Night’, a weekly female-only session with targeted marketing campaign that features activities chosen by students. Hartlepool College of FE delivers weekly Bokwa dance sessions, while Leicester College have created two new fitness activities – UV fitness, a social exercise to music class under ultraviolet lights and Box Fit Beauty, a boxfit class that earns participants discounted beauty treatments and free gym membership.

AoC Sport is working with Sport England to encourage colleges to get involved and link their work to the campaign. Colleges can sign-up to become a partner organisation and download free resources on the This Girl Can website.
The This Girl Can TV advert premieres on Monday 12 January at 7.45pm on ITV. Help build excitement and spread the message through social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook – don’t forget to use the #ThisGirlCan hashtag. A high impact YouTube Homepage Takeover takes place on 13 January.
The first stage of the campaign is a launch pad to something much bigger, broader and longer, and colleges are vital in helping deliver the This Girl Can message and ensuring lasting behavioural change.
