Future Apprenticeships: Occupational Action Planning for Apprenticeship Standards - Workshops and Online Seminar Package

17 August 2016

With a growing number of apprenticeship standards being published and many more under development providers are beginning to prepare for the delivery of individual standards. The Future Apprenticeships programme is able to assist with this process by offering a package of support designed to equip providers with the techniques and resources to plan, implement and improve the delivery of specific standards.

Each support package will look at a number of apprenticeship standards within a particular sector initially adult care; customer service; financial services; hospitality; digital; and retail (four more sectors to be announced in the autumn)*.

What’s included in the package?

The support package is made up of;

  • Workshop 1: Planning for Delivery - September-October
  • Workshop 2: Delivery - October-November
  • Online seminar: Delivery Improvement - November-December

The workshop themes will be kept flexible to respond to the needs of each group but are likely to include: business development, marketing and communications; delivery models for on-programme components; staffing and skills; end point assessment; financial modelling; quality arrangements.

Expert speakers from end point assessment organisations, employer groups, Provider Readiness Groups plus providers who are either delivering apprenticeship standards or have well developed delivery plans in place will be invited to contribute to the second workshops.

*Where standards are not covered by the Occupational Action Planning support providers will be able to access virtual, self-managed Provider Readiness Groups (PRGs) through the PRG area of the Future Apprenticeships Portal.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the package delegates will be able to;

  • understand the difference between delivery of frameworks and standards
  • make decisions about how to implement the specific standards their organisation has selected to deliver, using a transition planning template and supporting resources
  • plan how their organisation can prepare apprentices to undertake end point assessments
  • identify potential risks or issues using a risk / issue log template
  • identify questions which need to be answered within their own organisation by key stakeholders, including curriculum and business development managers and leaders
  • strengthen their offer for employers by understanding options and planning for delivery and improvement
  • develop a process for engaging front-line staff in specific standards
  • understand what can be done in accordance with available information on new standards/assessment plans

Who should attend:

Individual delegates will:

  • be in a position to be able to make decisions about curriculum delivery models, staffing and delivery infrastructure within their organisation
  • be able to cascade the skills and knowledge acquired
  • Apprenticeships providers, sending delegates, will have:
  • moved on from simply understanding the reforms, to a position where they have identified standards to deliver in the short-term (and an idea of standards to deliver in the longer-term)

Delegate Fees:

The cost for the package of support is £350.00 per delegate (discounts apply click here for further details). This includes both workshops and the online seminar.
