Festival of Education – FE debut

For the first time, further education colleges were represented at the prestigious Festival of Education. Sponsored and organised by the Sunday Times, the event took place at Wellington College, an independent school in Berkshire on 20-21 June. The FE contribution included speakers and debates on what colleges, schools and universities can learn from each other; meeting skills needs in a tough climate, enterprise in education and careers guidance. On display at the event was a sports car, designed, built and maintained by students at Northbrook College. Both the driver and students were on hand to talk about the car’s development, and the skills they’ve learned. Students from the STEM centres at Barking and Dagenham College and North Hertfordshire College also demonstrated experiments with robotics and 3D printing.
