Apprenticeships: Low Pay Commission reviews apprenticeship rates
19 June 2019
This week, the Government requested the Low Pay Commission to look at simplifying the rules around apprenticeship rates.
The Government believes that the current rules are too complex, leading to poor compliance with these rules by employers. At the moment, the rate that an apprentice is paid is dependent on their age and the length of their apprenticeship. The Low Pay Commission has been asked to give recommendations on how to reform the current rules to ensure that apprentices get the minimum wage to which they are entitled.
