AoC response to Taylor Review
19 June 2019
In response to the launch of the 'Good work: the Taylor review of modern working practices' report today, Julian Gravatt, Deputy Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges, said: “Colleges have always needed a flexible workforce and they employ people on different types of contracts to respond to the needs of students and the college business. College income from government and from fees is variable and difficult to predict. This affects the decisions colleges make about employment.
“Education and training in colleges is delivered by expert teaching staff from a range of professions. Some teachers continue to maintain employment in their own profession while being employed by colleges on a casual basis as secondary employment. CThis is beneficial to the students, college and employee."
