Advanced Teacher Status welcomed
19 June 2019
Today the Education and Training Foundation’s launched Advanced Teacher Status.
David Hughes, Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges, said: “ This is a positive step for further education and will build on the achievements of teaching staff. We must support teaching staff to reach the highest levels. Not only will Advanced Teacher Status ensure there are clear career paths, it will also help attract and retain people. The next few years will see both challenges and opportunities, with T Levels, English and maths needs, new A Level qualifications, changes to applied general qualifications and more apprenticeships at higher levels to name just a few. Advanced Teacher Status will help embed excellence in the years to come. This is good news not only for our teaching staff, but for students who will be the true beneficiaries of this system.”
