Bridgwater and Taunton College

Bridgwater and Taunton College (BTC) offer multisite enrichment opportunities, which vary by campus depending on student demographics, space and capacity.

The college offers a wide range of enrichment such as sports and physical activities, creative opportunities such as sport, fashion design, creative writing photography and media, student health champions, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, choir, the Cadet Force and the 999 Academy. Students who take part in enrichment develop and grow, the experiences they have help them to build confidence, meet peers from all courses and walks of life. Enrichment also retains learners and has a positive impact on attitudes and behaviours.

The activities are housed in a student hub where all students can go on and book any activity regardless of their subject area. Curriculum areas deliver activities linked to their subject and are supported by a small student engagement team that coordinates, promotes and engages students. The team has a wide remit and rely on staff to deliver activities so that they are free for students ensuring that there are equal opportunities for all.

BTC has started to track students' enrichment activities, recording what the students have been involved in and linking this back to attainment, achievement and attendance. This is an exciting new area for them and provides valuable information demonstrate to students and the leadership team.
