The function of the regional structure of the AoC is to deliver services which support the mission, purpose and values of the Association and which add value to the National AoC service, reflecting and responding to the particular features, priorities and needs of Colleges and the organisations with which they work in the region.

The fundamental premise of the Strategy for the AoC, East Midlands is that the national and regional priorities of raising 16-19 participation and achievement, improving adult and workforce skills, tackling social exclusion and worklessness, and continuously improving the quality of provision can only be successfully achieved if the expertise, experience and best practice of the College sector are fully engaged. Therefore, the strategic priorities of the Association in the region must focus on achieving an environment in which that engagement can flourish and grow.

REGIONAL FOCUS

Three priorities have been identified as central to the aims and purposes of the AoC, East Midlands:

  1. To ensure that East Midlands Colleges are strategically engaged on the regional and national agenda.

  2. To ensure there is a range of fora for strategic debate to take place in order to inform the national and regional agenda, which enables active participation by members.

  3. To develop effective communication channels for members to participate in and be informed of the national and regional agenda.
