The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) was formed in 2009 following a merger of the Departments for Innovation, Universities and Skills and Business, Energy and Regulatory Reform. It was created to “bring all of the levers of the economy together in one place. Our policy areas – from skills and higher education to innovation and science to business and trade policy – can all help to drive growth.”

New qualification for 14-19 year olds.

Funding drawn by training providers directly from the Learning and Skills Council. This funding is on a per learner basis and is automatically given to all British residents
